Dear Family of Mary!
"Dear children! I am calling you anew: begin the battle against sin as in the first days, go to confession and decide for holiness. The love of God will begin to flow through you into the world, peace will begin to rule in your hearts and God's blessing will fill you. I am with you and intercede for all of you before my Son Jesus. Thank you for having responded to my call." (March 25, 2014)
We
are approaching Holy Week! This is the most powerful, most holy, most
intense, and most prayerful week of our Liturgical Year. We have
prepared for this week by making an effort to celebrate the Sacrament of
Reconciliation. And there is still time to return to the Sacrament one
more time before the Triduum. I want to share several responses I
received about confession as a result of our Novena to St. Isidore and
St. Faustina to understand the love Confession. They may inspire us to
make the effort for one more Confession during Holy Week:
This first email is very moving. "A" is very ill with cancer. The response of her priest is just beautiful:
Cathy...I
want to tell you what happened this evening when I went to confession.
The priest and I walked into the confessional together and he gestured
for me to sit. I am not able to sit so I asked if it would be improper
if I stood. He said no, any posture I took would be fine. Then he said,
would it be OK if I...and I was already answering him before he
finished his question because anything he wanted to do was alright with
me. He finished his sentence with one word...kneel. I was so surprised
by what he asked. As he knelt in front of me as I stood, I said, "Oh
no Father you're the one that's holy." And he replied, "No you're the
one that's holy, you came to repent." I had so many feelings going
through me all at the same time. I thought about St Faustina's diary
when Jesus told her it is He Himself in the confessional and is only
hidden by the priest. It was Jesus who was kneeling in front of me. I
also thought about St Peter when Jesus said He was going to wash His
feet. I have just the smallest idea of what St Peter must have felt.
This was one of the most humbling confessions I've experienced. Then
when I received my penance, 3 Hail Mary's for those who do not yet know
God, all I could think of was Denis saying "That's not a penance for me"
and you replying "Oh good gravy." I'll be sailing with you in the
morning. God bless. Love, A
Jesus is able to touch us through our priests. He is loving us intensely through them in Confession. Wow!
Here are three more responses:
Thank
you for this soul-searching novena....because of it I was able to
confess something that even though I believed that the Lord had forgiven
me for it I had never confessed it formally and outright in the
confessional. You are right it is wonderful when you feel the power of
the Lord's forgiveness! Nine days of pondering the words in this Novena
made me realize that I needed to confess it all! God bless you! V.
This Novena has been preparing me for Confession, which I plan to do tomorrow at 1st Friday
Day of Recollection which we have every month. I truly want to be a
completely clean vessel to be filled by the Holy Spirit by Easter
morning! I hope that you will pray for me to be all that God wants me to
be. Anon.
I
can't find the words to express my thanks for this powerful novena
weapon so needed to help us. I am a practicing charismatic
Catholic...and suddenly even I was unable to go to confession 3 weeks
ago. I actually sat and waited outside the confessional and left. My
mind was full of what is happening...confusion... exactly like a
black cloud covering my mind...not making sense and making sense. Then
came Mother Mary's message..."go to confession"....and then came you
guys with the novena...now I can't wait to talk with Jesus in the
confessional of merciful love. Thank you, thank you, and thank you
Mother Mary. Anon.
The
graces that are unleashed in Confession can change our entire lives.
Let's pray for one another to receive those graces before Good Friday, one more time. We won't regret it. So much healing awaits us!!
In Jesus, Mary and Joseph!
