Easter Monday
Divine Mercy Novena Day 4
Dear Family of Mary!
As
we will read today, St. Faustina was acutely aware of the sad plight of
souls who did not know the love of God. Our Lady of Medjugorje also
carries this burden in her heart and shares it with us in her
messages. Today we pray for them!
St. Faustina wrote:
When
I had rested near His sweetest Heart, I told Him, "Jesus, I have so
much to tell You." And the Lord said to me with great love, Speak, My
daughter. And I started to enumerate the pains of my heart; that is, how
greatly concerned I am for all mankind, that "they all do not know You,
and those who do know You do not love You as You deserve to be loved. I
also see how terribly sinners offend You; and then again, I see how
severely the faithful, especially Your servants, are oppressed and
persecuted. And then, too, I see many souls rushing headlong into the
terrible abyss of hell. You see, Jesus, this is the pain that gnaws at
my heart and bones. And, although You show me special love and inundate
my heart with streams of Your joys, nevertheless, this does not appease
the sufferings I have just mentioned, but rather they penetrate my poor
heart (281) all the more acutely. Oh, how ardently I desire that all
mankind turn with trust to Your mercy. Then, seeing the glory of Your
name, my heart will be comforted."
Jesus
listened to these outpourings of my heart with gravity and interest, as
if He had known nothing about them, and this seemed to make it easier
for me to talk. And the Lord said to me, My daughter, those words of your heart are pleasing to Me, and by saying the chaplet you are bringing humankind closer to Me.
After these words, I found myself alone, but the presence of God is always in my soul. (929 Diary)
Fourth Day
"Today bring to Me those who do not believe in God and those who do not know Me, I was thinking also of them during My bitter Passion, and their future zeal comforted My Heart. Immerse them in the ocean of My mercy."
Most
compassionate Jesus, You are the Light of the whole world. Receive into
the abode of Your Most Compassionate Heart the souls of those who do
not believe in God and of those who as yet do not know You. Let the rays
of Your grace enlighten them that they, too, together with us, may
extol Your wonderful mercy; and do not let them escape from the abode
which is Your Most Compassionate Heart.
Eternal Father, turn Your merciful gaze upon the souls of those who do not believe in You, and of those who as yet do not know You, but who are enclosed in the Most Compassionate Heart of Jesus. Draw them to the light of the Gospel. These souls do not know what great happiness it is to love You. Grant that they, too, may extol the generosity of Your mercy for endless ages. Amen.
Let us pray the Chaplet of Divine Mercy!
Our Lady of Medjugorje has said:
"Dear
children; I am calling you and am coming among you because I need you. I
need apostles with a pure heart. I am praying, and you should also
pray, that the Holy Spirit may enable and lead you, that He may
illuminate you and fill you with love and humility. Pray that He may
fill you with grace and mercy. Only then will you understand me, my
children. Only then will you understand my pain because of those who
have not come to know the love of God. Then you will be able to help me.
You will be my light-bearers of God's love. You will illuminate the way
for those who have been given eyes but do not want to see. I desire for
all of my children to see my Son. I desire for all of my children to
experience His Kingdom. Again I call you and implore you to pray for
those whom my Son has called. Thank you." (October 02, 2012)
Pope John Paul II wrote in "Dives In Misericordia n. 15:
Modern
man often anxiously wonders about the solution to the terrible tensions
which have built up in the world and which entangle humanity. And if at
times he lacks the courage to utter the word "mercy," or if in his
conscience empty of religious content he does not find the equivalent,
so much greater is the need for the Church to utter his word, not only
in her own name but also in the name of all the men and women of our
time.
Everything
that I have said in the present document on mercy should therefore be
continually transformed into an ardent prayer: into a cry that implores
mercy according to the needs of man in the modern world. May this cry be
full of that truth about mercy which has found such rich expression in
Sacred Scripture and in Tradition, as also in the authentic life of
faith of countless generations of the People of God. With this cry let
us, like the sacred writers, call upon the God who cannot despise
anything that He has made,136 the God
who is faithful to Himself, to His fatherhood and His love. And, like
the prophets, let us appeal to that love which has maternal
characteristics and which, like a mother, follows each of her children,
each lost sheep, even if they should number millions, even if in the
world evil should prevail over goodness, even if contemporary humanity
should deserve a new "flood" on account of its sins, as once the
generation of Noah did. Let us have recourse to that fatherly love
revealed to us by Christ in His messianic mission, a love which reached
its culmination in His cross, in His death and resurrection. Let us have
recourse to God through Christ, mindful of the words of Mary's
Magnificat, which proclaim mercy "from generation to generation." Let us
implore God's mercy for the present generation. May the Church which,
following the example of Mary, also seeks to be the spiritual mother of
mankind, express in this prayer her maternal solicitude and at the same
time her confident love, that love from which is born the most burning
need for prayer.
Let
us offer up our petitions, directed by the faith, by the hope, and by
the charity which Christ has planted in our hearts. This attitude is
likewise love of God, whom modern man has sometimes separated far from
himself, made extraneous to himself, proclaiming in various ways that
God is "superfluous." This is, therefore, love of God, the insulting
rejection of whom by modern man we feel profoundly, and we are ready to
cry out with Christ on the cross: "Father, forgive them; for they know
not what they do."137 At the same time
it is love of people, of all men and women without any exception or
division: without difference of race, culture, language, or world
outlook, without distinction between friends and enemies. This is love
for people-it desires every true good for each individual and for every
human community, every family, every nation, every social group, for
young people, adults, parents, the elderly-a love for everyone, without
exception. This is love, or rather an anxious solicitude to ensure for
each individual every true good and to remove and drive away every sort
of evil.
It
is precisely at this time when it seems humanity deserves a new flood,
that St. Faustina was given the call to spread Divine Mercy, and Pope
John Paul II was called to be the Mercy Pope. Also it is in these days
that Our Lady has come to Medjugorje to lead her apostles in spreading
God's love and mercy. This is the time for those who do not know the
love of Jesus to experience it!
Let us pray to Blessed John Paul II:
O
Blessed Trinity, we thank You for having graced the Church with Blessed
John Paul II and for allowing the tenderness of Your Fatherly care, the
glory of the Cross of Christ, and the splendor of the Spirit of love,
to shine through him. Trusting fully in Your infinite mercy and in the
maternal Intercession of Mary, he has given us a living image of Jesus
the Good Shepherd, and has shown us that holiness is the necessary
measure of ordinary Christian life and is the way of achieving eternal
communion with You. Grant us, by his intercession, and according to Your
will, the graces we implore, knowing that he will soon be numbered
among Your saints. Amen.
In Jesus, Mary and Joseph!
