Mary Vitamin for August 3rd
Topic: St. John Mary Vianney & Humility
(August 4th)
Quote:
St. John Mary Vianney
Although Mary knew that God had raised her to the most supreme of all honours 'that of being the Mother of God' nevertheless she regarded herself as the least of all creatures.
Thoughts of the Cure of Ars, (Tan Books), 40.
Meditation:
St. Teresa of Avila
You should never let a word of praise pass without it moving you to wage war interiorly, for this is easily done if you acquire the habit. Remember how the world treated Christ, our Lord, and how they exalted Him on Palm Sunday. Although you think the praise does you no harm, do not trust it."
Meditations on the Song of Songs, Chapter 2 (ICS Publications) par 12, 13.
Resolution:
Whether I am calumniated or praised, I will think of the Lord's triumphant entry into Jerusalem which was followed five days later by His Crucifixion. I will imitate the humility of Our Lady.
Marian Vow:
St. Thomas of Villanova
Humility is the mother of many virtues. From it spring obedience, holy fear, reverence, patience, modesty, mildness, and peace; for, whoever is humble easily obeys all, fears to offend any, maintains peace with all, shows himself affable to all, is submissive to all, does not offend or displease any, and does not feel the insults which may be inflicted upon him. He lives happy and contented, and in great peace.
A Year with the Saints, February 2 (Tan Books)
I give this resolution to the Blessed Virgin Mary.
Thanks be to God for graces received.

Please no anonymous comments. I require at least some way for people to address each other personally and courteously. Having some name or handle helps.
