Ivan Speaks to Pilgrims:

Medjugorje Witness

Being Visionary A Great Responsibility

(Medjugorje) Saturday, September 11, 2010- “I am completely aware of the responsibility that I carry, and with that responsibility, I live my daily life,” says Ivan, one of the six visionaries of Medjugorje. Ivan spoke to pilgrims in Medjugorje today, who were gathered from the United States, Germany, England, Ireland, France, and Italy. His testimony was translated from his Croatian tongue into all of the above languages. The sky was overcast and threatening rain, but several thousand pilgrims came anyway to hear Ivan speak. Ivan said, “Our Lady chose me to be an instrument of Her and God’s plans. For me and my family, it is a great gift and responsibility. I am completely aware of the responsibility that I carry, and with that responsibility, I live my daily life.”

Ivan, one of the six visionaries tells us today that being a visionary is a great responsibilty.

With humble beginnings as simple village children, it is said that the lives of the six visionaries was changed forever the day Our Lady began to appear to them in 1981. Yet, none of the Medjugorje visionaries would trade it for anything in the world.

“Do not look at me as a perfect man or as a saint, because that is not who I am. I’m trying to be better, to be holier, that is my desire. This desire is impressed deeply into my heart,” said Ivan.

The Medjugorje visionaries often impress upon visiting pilgrims that seeing Our Lady does not exclude them from having to respond to Her messages. Ivan said:

“I did not convert overnight because of the fact that I see Our Lady. I know my conversion is a process which will continue for the rest of my life. I have to decide for it, I have to persevere, and change every single day. Everyday I must renounce evil and sin, so that I can be open to peace, to be open to the grace to accept Christ’s Word and live it in my life.”
