The Apostolate for Family Consecration®
Consecrating families to the Holy Family
in the Spirit of Blessed Pope John Paul II
December 2011

Thank you so much for your love & support! Your sacrifices and prayers continue to bring a message of HOPE to families around the world. You are impacting so many lives!

For the month of December, let us reflect on the virtue of humility.

"Come to me, all you who labor and are burdened, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am meek and humble of heart; and you will find rest for yourselves. For my yoke is easy, and my burden light." (Matthew 11:28-30)

Jesus tells us to come to Him with our burdens and He will give us rest. This act of trust is what opens the door to grace and will lead our hearts to rest. The labors and burdens may still remain, but we are given grace to rise above them.

Jesus then says "take my yoke upon you." What does He mean by this? Are we to carry our own burdens and take Jesus' yoke too?

Jesus explains the essence of His yoke when He says, "learn from me, for I am meek and humble of heart." When we learn how to be gentle and submissive, we discover who we are in Christ. We are vessels of God's grace; all we are and do is a matter of God's grace that is given to us. It is a free gift and not something that we earn. We must learn to open our hearts to God's grace and allow Him to work in and through us knowing that everything is from Him and we claim nothing as our own.

So, trusting in Jesus and cooperating with His grace is indeed taking His yoke upon us. Our burdens become His as He carries them for us and our hearts are given rest.

Let us ask our heavenly Father for the grace to learn from Jesus how to be meek and humble of heart.

Eternally yours in the Holy Family,

Robert Coniker, President

Please no anonymous comments. I require at least some way for people to address each other personally and courteously. Having some name or handle helps.
