—Spiritual Food For Thought—
O Immaculate Heart of Mary,The saint who one could say gave us “consecration to Mary,” is St. Louis de Montfort.2 In the April 28th meditation from the monthly prayer guide, Magnificat, St. Louis speaks of the “reign” of the Holy Spirit:
overflowing with goodness,
show us Your love for us.
May the flame of Your heart,
O Mary, descend upon all mankind…
and thus be converted through
the flame of Your Heart. Amen.
When will it happen, this fiery deluge of pure love with which you are to set the whole world ablaze and which is to come, so gently yet so forcefully, that all nations…. will be caught up in its flames and be converted?… When you breathe your Spirit into them, they are restored and the face of the earth is renewed. Send this all-consuming Spirit upon the earth to create priests who burn with this same fire and whose ministry will renew the face of the earth and reform your Church. —From God Alone: The Collected Writings of St. Louis Marie de Montfort; April 2014, Magnificat, p. 331Another voice in the wilderness whom I have quoted here before is “Pelianito,” a very prayerful and humble soul who, through meditation on the Scriptures, listens to the voice of the Shepherd. Only recently did I see her message of April 13th, 2014, which calls us to pray for a “blessing”, which is part of an “awakening” of the world:
My children, through your prayers and sacrifices I will work a great work. I mean for you to participate actively in the awakening that is to come to the world. Do not be remiss, but take up your cross daily and follow me. Quench my thirst. My thoughts on Calvary were fixed on the souls I died to save. Then bring me more souls—expand your territory of souls. Call down my blessing on all those I have given you to pray for. Be a blessing to the world. —pelianito.stblogs.comAnd then recently on May 7th, 2014, an anonymous seer, who posts alleged locutions from Jesus and Mary at locutions.org, spoke of this Flame as well. I quote her here because I know her spiritual director, Monsignor John Esseff, who himself received direction from St. Pio and was Blessed Mother Teresa’s confessor and director (Msgr. is also the spiritual director of the priest who directs me). Since these messages have no official approval from the competent authority, I quote them in the spirit of St. Paul’s admonition not to despise prophecy, but to test everything.3 Here, the alleged seer speaks not only in general terms of the “convergence” I wrote about earlier, but also the “blessing”:
Such is the current path of the human race. Evil hearts are rushing from one goal to the next, always seeking new ways to destroy what exists, filled with every kind of envy and rage… There must be a new day, when God’s love is poured forth upon the world, a day which no one can even imagine in the present situation. However, that is my promise. God has placed this love, this flame, in my Immaculate Heart and I am ready to pour out what cannot even be conceived. This is my promise and I am true to my word. —allegedly from Mary, “Uncontainable Evil”, May 7th, 2014, Locutions to the World
THE ONE VOICE: MARY & THE CHURCH
It is my conviction that, when we speak of authentic Marian messages, what we are hearing are echoes of what is already being said and taught in the Church. That is, authentic apparitions, locutions, etc. will be in harmony with the prophetic voice of the Magisterium (though I am by no means making any definitive pronouncement regarding the above) as Mary is theologically a “type” of the Church. I believe that is the secondary purpose of this website and my book: to essentially take what has traditionally been the domain of “private revelation,” and demonstrate how it is actually “heard” in the Magisterial voice by providing passages from Church documents, Scriptures, the Catechism, Church Fathers, and popes. As Benedict XVI said:
Holy Mary… you became the image of the Church to come… —Encyclical, Spe Salvi, n.50
The Flame of Love is nothing less than the Holy Spirit, the spiritual spouse of the Virgin Mary. So, once again, we hear the popes also anticipating a new descent of grace, but speaking of it in terms of the Spirit:When either is spoken of, the meaning can be understood of both, almost without qualification. —Blessed Isaac of Stella, Liturgy of the Hours, Vol. I, pg. 252
May [Mary] continue to strengthen our prayers with her suffrages, that, in the midst of all the stress and trouble of the nations, those divine prodigies may be happily revived by the Holy Ghost, which were foretold in the words of David: “Send forth Thy Spirit and they shall be created, and Thou shalt renew the face of the earth” (Ps. ciii., 30). —POPE LEO XIII, Divinum Illud Munus, n. 14On May 3rd, 1920, the Holy Pontiff prayed:
We humbly implore the Holy Ghost, the Paraclete, that He may “graciously grant to the Church the gifts of unity and peace,” and may renew the face of the earth by a fresh outpouring of His charity for the salvation of all. —POPE BENEDICT XV, Pacem Dei Munus PulcherrimumSt. John XXIII continued that holy sentiment as he convened a new council, praying:
Renew Your wonders in this our day, as by a new Pentecost. Grant to Your Church that, being of one mind and steadfast in prayer with Mary, the Mother of Jesus, and following the lead of blessed Peter, it may advance the reign of our Divine Savior, the reign of truth and justice, the reign of love and peace. Amen. —POPE JOHN XXIII at the opening of the Second Vatican CouncilEchoing several prophecies, Paul VI wrote:
…so great are the needs and the perils of the present age, so vast the horizon of mankind drawn towards world coexistence and powerless to achieve it, that there is no salvation for it except in a new outpouring of the gift of God. Let Him then come, the Creating Spirit, to renew the face of the earth! —POPE PAUL VI, Gaudete in Domino, May 9th, 1975And who can forget the famous prophecy of St. John Paul II?
…[a] new springtime of Christian life will be revealed by the Great Jubilee if Christians are docile to the action of the Holy Spirit… —POPE JOHN PAUL II, Tertio Millennio Adveniente, n. 18
The Holy Spirit, finding his dear Spouse present again in souls, will come down into them with great power. He will fill them with his gifts, especially wisdom, by which they will produce wonders of grace… that age of Mary, when many souls, chosen by Mary and given her by the the most High God, will hide themselves completely in the depths of her soul, becoming living copies of her, loving and glorifying Jesus. —St. Louis de Montfort, True Devotion to the Blessed Virgin, n.217, Montfort Publications
Few are, but that is even more reason why Mary is the New Gideon…

- St. John was consecrated to Mary beneath the Cross, and as such, so was the whole Church. But St. Louis de Montfort developed the theology of this consecration, and how the motherhood of Mary leads us most directly to a deep and authentic relationship with her Son, Jesus Christ. [↩]
