Dear Family of Mary!

"Dear children! Today in a special way I invite you all to prayer and renunciation. For now as never before satan wants to show the world his shameful face by which he wants to seduce as many people as possible onto the way of death and sin. Therefore, dear children, help my Immaculate Heart to triumph in the sinful world. I beseech all of you to offer prayers and sacrifices for my intentions so I can present them to God for what is most necessary. Forget your desires, dear children, and pray for what God desires, and not for what you desire. Thank you for having responded to my call." (September 25, 1991)

This is Day 4 in our Novena to Mary, Help of Christians. Our Scripture is: "Love does not insist on its own way" (1 Cor 13:5). We are praying for Our Lady's intentions in this novena. Surely is takes self-control and love to pray for Our Lady's intentions instead of our own. It is a powerful way to not insist on our own way. The message from September 25, 1991 is particularly appropriate for this day as well: "Forget your desires, dear children, and pray for what God desires, and not for what you desire."

In our families and personal relationships it is always a challenge to not insist on our own way. There are many opportunities in daily life which help us to practice love in this way. How we do the dishes, where we hang our coats, who drives and who doesn't, what we will eat for dinner, who mows the lawn...well you see, there are many moments in our day that can become acts of love if we do not insist on our own way.

Not insisting on our own way is an act of letting go control. It says, I entrust my life to God and to you. It says that our relationship is more important than my sense of order. And learning not to insist on our own way can be good training for us in our relationship with the Lord. We can be more easily led by the Holy Spirit if we are not intent on control over the details of our lives.

"Dear children! Today I call you, through prayer and sacrifice, to prepare yourselves for the coming of the Holy Spirit. Little children, this is a time of grace and so, again, I call you to decide for God the Creator. Allow Him to transform and change you. May your heart be prepared to listen to, and live, everything which the Holy Spirit has in His plan for each of you. Little children, allow the Holy Spirit to lead you on the way of truth and salvation towards eternal life. Thank you for having responded to my call." (May 25, 1998)

The Holy Spirit can lead us on the way of salvation, step by step. He has a plan! But He will have an easier time implementing it, if we have learned to not insist on our own way!! And the key to this way of relating is love. It is love for God that will help us put our way second to His way. It is love for God that will give us the desire to not insist on our own way! Just think how much better it will be when we are able to be led by the Holy Spirit! Think how powerful it could be if the Holy Spirit could have His way!

May our hearts be prepared to listen and to live what the Spirits says to us!

Day 4
"Love does not insist on its own way." (1 Cor 13:5)

Prayer to Mary Help of Christians
O Mary, You love me with a Mother's heart.
Just as you held your Son Jesus in your arms, you hold me in your care.
Help me in my need;
Protect me day by day;
and through your Motherly intercession,
May I become ever more aware of the breath of God living within me.
Mary, Help of Christians, Pray for us. Amen

In Jesus, Mary and Joseph!

PS. There are terrible floods raging in Bosnia, Serbia and Croatia. It seems they are not occurring near Medjugorje, but the entire country will be suffering from this calamity. Let's pray for the areas being flooded, and do whatever we can to help them in their need.

 PPS. Fruit of Medjugorje!  Tonight at 8:00 pm

"Medjugorje is the spiritual center of the world."
