Dear Family of Mary!
"Dear children! The Most High is giving me the grace that I can still be with you and to lead you in prayer towards the way of peace. Your heart and soul thirst for peace and love, for God and His joy. Therefore, little children, pray, pray, pray and in prayer you will discover the wisdom of living. I bless you all and intercede for each of you before my Son Jesus. Thank you for having responded to my call." (June 25, 2014)
Well, yesterday's Gospel was about Jesus in the boat in the big storm at sea. And last night we had a very big storm and lost our power. It may be out for days. I can identify with the apostles in the boat!!!
I want to quote Michael's closing words for the Daily Rosary for July 1, as they were very inspired and really fit with the June 25 message about "the wisdom of living":
I remember what a priest in Medjugorje said at Mass one day. He said that every choice we make for the will of God or against the will of God goes out like ripples throughout all of time and throughout the rest of the world and affects everyone. And he said that the visionaries asked Our Lady what happens at the moment of death and she said that you see in an instant all the decisions you made for the will of God or against the will of God and how they went out and affected the rest of the world. We see in the Annunciation the moment when Our Lady is saying "Yes" to God and how those ripples went out from that to all eternity!
So the idea that when we try to be holy we can't just "be" good fruit. Fruit is planted and then it grows and is tended and then it bears fruit. So to be holy, like with morality and ethics, those are things to cling to as you begin the process of planting. The Church teaches that homosexuality is disordered and so if you have same sex attractions, you need to make peace with who you are. I accept the way I am, good things and bad things within me, but I cling to morality because the Church holds the truth. Jesus revealed God as He is, fully. So the Church has the truth. So I cling to morality, though I accept myself as I am, and I begin the path of planting good seed.
We are a product of all those seeds planted, even the generational seeds planted. Those seeds are the decisions for the will of God and against the will of God that go out like ripples throughout the whole world. You bear fruit from all of that. You can't just become good fruit.
Denis interjected, "I am so disordered and I can't just become ordered. I live with this..."
Mike: I live with all the bad decisions against the will of God from all my ancestors even. So through prayer and morality, you can adopt behavior, but behavior is not fulfilled. (Like Jesus said He was the fulfillment of the law.) You fulfill the will of God when the seeds have been planted, tended and have grown so to bear good fruit...
It is through suffering that you get all tilled up and you can begin to plant. You begin a life of prayer, you realize how much you need God, and you start the process of planting. It is the same with our children, when we are always in the reactionary mode so when the kids are being bad and you react against it. You think you need to punish. Whereas what God has been showing me, especially on this last pilgrimage, instead of being in the reactionary mode which is how satan works - You knock someone over, they come back and knock you over - so you blow about like branches in the wind - instead you begin to plant. You start to plant goodness and that goodness will start to bear fruit. Like you start showing more love, you go out one on one instead of clobbering them with punishment. You start to plant seeds that will bear fruit next week. The bad behavior that is happening right now is the bad fruit of something that happened a week or two ago. So instead of being branches blowing in the wind, which is a never ending cycle, and the devil's playground, you become a planter, an investor.
The business community knows about planting. They tell you that you want their product, and that seed will bear fruit. Even the way you think about somebody can plant a seed. If you think someone is annoying, and you think it over and over, you plant that seed and that is what will be manifest later. What is invisible now will be seen later, what is in the darkness will come to light. So Our Lady keeps trying to bring us back to planting the right seeds. Not the news, or movies, or whatever, but instead reading scripture, praying the rosary, going to Mass... you plant seeds that will become physically manifest, you will move from the seed under the soil to a living plant. I am a planter, not a reactor.
Thanks Mike, for those inspiring words. It makes a lot of sense. May we all become planters for the future. May we plant peace, love, joy, hope, faith, trust, prayer, truth, and all the good things of God!
In Jesus, Mary and Joseph!
