Our Lady in Medjugorje has often spoken about the family. Her desire is that every family be active in prayer.
A mother, and her children praying outside St. James
Church in Medjugorje, this past June 25 anniversary. Our Lady in
Medjugorje has often spoken about the family. Her desire is that every
family be active in prayer. Our Lady said on May 1, 1986:
Jakov, one of the six Medjugorje visionaries, shared some thoughts on family prayer during one of his talks to the pilgrims here in Medjugorje, in April 2014:
“Our Lady has been inviting us to pray in
our own families, to place God in the first place in our families. Our
Lady said that nothing can unite your family more than the prayers said
together. We have to find time for prayer in our families. We have to
be an example to our children. We have to pray with our children. I’m
also a father, and I have three children. I accepted each one of my
children as a gift from God, but I also understood that they are my
responsibility. I often remember the words of the late Father Slavko,
when he said, you parents, you parents are those who have to give roots
to your children when they are small. He added, even one day if they
distance themselves from God, they will return, they will come back
because of that little bit that you gave them when they were small, will
forever remain in their hearts. What is the most beautiful thing for a
family is to see when your child is praying and that your child is happy
praying. When you as a parent did not have to force them to pray, but
they come to you and say when will we pray, shall we pray. Everyday,
when I pray with my family, I feel that amazing joy because in those
moments you can feel the unity of the family.”
