The following comes from a June 25 CBS Los Angeles story:
Police were asking for the public’s help last week to identify who broke the head off a statue of the Virgin Mary and damaged the face of a Jesus Christ statue at a Catholic church in Palm Springs.
Officers responded to a report early this morning of vandalism at the Our Lady of Solitude Church located along the 100 block of West Alejo Road, according to Palm Springs Police Sgt. Paul Abshire.
An investigation found that someone damaged the two concrete statues near the front of the church sometime between 8:30 p.m. Wednesday and 7 a.m. June 25, Abshire said.
It was not immediately clear what was used to cause the estimated $2,000 worth of damage, said Abshire.
The incident marked the second vandalism attack in a month at the church after two plaster statues in a different location at Our Lady of Solitude were also damaged.
