Dear Family of Mary!

Sunday, May 10, is Mother's Day in many countries. It is a day set aside to honor our mothers, and thank them for all they have done to bring us life and hope and faith. We, who are children of Our Lady, also honor our heavenly Mother on this day. And so I thought I would turn Our Lady's most recent message into a prayer and offer it back to her. You may want to compose your own prayer response to this message! It is such a powerful motherly message!

To Our Lady, Our Mother, this Mother's Day:

Dear children, open your hearts and try to feel how much I love you and how much I desire for you to love my Son. I desire for you to come to know him all the better, because it is impossible to know him and not to love him - because he is love.

Mother Mary, I am sorry that my heart opens so slowly to your love and to the love of Jesus. I am sure it is because of my ingratitude. I do not even realize how you and Jesus are surrounding me with graces and blessings, caring for me at every turn. I stumble along, blind to your smiling and loving presence. But sometimes there is a glimmer of your love that slips through to my heart. I want to let in more and more of your light. So I surrender to you and ask you to help me to open my heart.

I, my children, know you. I know your pain and suffering because I lived through them. I laugh with you in your joy and I cry with you in your pain. I will never leave you. I will always speak to you with motherly tenderness.

If you know me, Mother, then you know how much I sin and fall short of the glory of God. You know what pain I cause myself and others. But you understand, because you lived with so many people who also fell short. And you never stop loving us all. You love us so much that you can laugh with us and cry with us. You love us so much that you will never leave us. You love us so much that you speak to us, so tenderly and gently that we can but weep for joy. You are our mother. You are the best of mothers.

And I, as a mother, need your open hearts to spread the love of my Son with wisdom and simplicity. I need you to be open and sensitive to the good and mercy. I need you to be united with my Son, because I desire for you to be happy and to help me to bring happiness to all of my children. My apostles, I need you to show everyone the truth of God, so that my heart, which suffered and today suffers so much pain, can win in love.

You tell us, dearest Mother, that you need us. You need us in so many ways! We are humbled that you would need us. What can we do to help you? We are weak and broken, not fit to work for you. But you still insist that you need us. We will try to spread the love of your Son by showing compassion and forgiveness to all those we meet. We will also try to be sensitive and open to the good and mercy, even when it is hard to believe that good and mercy are possible. We will try with all our might to unite with Jesus, through the Sacraments, especially Confession and Eucharist, so that we will become wells of happiness for the world. And we will try to stand for the truth of God, no matter the cost. We will try to help you to renew the human family through our love.

Pray for the holiness of your shepherds, so that in the name of my Son they could work miracles, because holiness works miracles. Thank you.

You continue to ask us to pray for our shepherds. They are our link with God. They will be asked to witness to the truth, more and more, and they will be opposed. But they will also bring the miraculous love of Jesus to all who desire it. They are your beloved sons. So we will pray for them, as you ask! This will be our Mother's Day present to you!

Happy Mother's Day, dearest Blessed Mother Mary. You are our Mother and we love you intensely. We do feel your love. We do. Thank you so much!

In Jesus, Mary and Joseph!
