God
gave the simple faithful three books that teach them his holy love.
These three books are the image of the Blessed Virgin, the crucifix and
the bell tower of a Catholic church.
Don’t
these three things remind us of the three major signs of God's love for
men, that is to say the mysteries of the Incarnation, the Redemption and
the Eucharist?
Doesn’t
the image of the Blessed Virgin cry out to us: God is love! He so loved
the world that he gave his only Son to redeem it!
Isn’t
the cross, which stands not only in our churches, but in our homes and
in our public squares, the open book where all men, learned or ignorant,
can read the mercy of the Son of God for us and the enormity of sin,
which cost him all his blood?
As for
the bell towers that rise everywhere that the Holy Eucharist is present,
don’t they seem to tell us that, out of love, God has pitched his tent
among us and he delights in dwelling with the children of men?
