How the Church finds her accomplishment as the Bride

Mary is for us the form, model, or type of the Church. Saint Peter asked the elders who were governing the Church to be models or examples for the flock entrusted to them (cf. 1 Peter 5: 3). In an incomparably higher way, Mary is the model and example of the Church.

She is, within the Church, the form in which the Church finds her accomplishment as the Bride, to give herself to the Bridegroom.

The more the Church resembles the Virgin Mary, the more she becomes the Bride; the more she becomes the Bride, the more she resembles the Bridegroom; and the more she resembles the Bridegroom, the more she resembles God. This is because these overlapping examples of the Church and God are only transparencies in which the unique splendor of God is reflected.

Let’s pray

Let’s pray together

Hail Mary, full of grace, the Lord is with thee. Blessed art thou among women, and blessed is the fruit of thy womb, Jesus. Holy Mary, Mother of God, pray for us sinners now, and at the hour of death.
Amen.
